Welcome...

harmonic osteopathy is based in the west end of Edinburgh and is a specialist treatment for muscle and joint pain, stiffness and injury: not just backs!  Osteopaths use a variety of techniques to achieve their objective.  At harmonic osteopathy we specialise in the harmonic technique.  This technique uses rhythmic oscillatory movements to ease tension in various areas of the body.  It can achieve the objectives faster and more effectively and reduces the need for any heavy joint "cracking" and painful massage and stretching.  We adopt a more gentle approach.

If you have pain or stiffness that is severe enough or long standing enough that you need relief; if the NHS has been ineffective; if you have pain without an obvious cause; if you have a persistent or recurring injury then it is probably being caused by something you are doing - a particular behaviour you are unaware of.  Prolonged static postures or repetitive motions create specific movement patterns or restrictions.  If you change the behaviour you can often fix the problem.  It is as simple as that.

So don't despair, there is help available, which is neither expensive nor time consuming.

All osteopaths study for four or five years for an undergraduate degree, which is similar to a medical degree but with more emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletal medicine.  This means that they are trained to diagnose your problem and then decide which is the best treatment to help it.  By law, osteopaths must register with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).  It is an offence for anyone to call themselves an osteopath if they are not registered.  The British Medical Association's guidance for general practitioners states that doctors can safely refer patients to osteopaths.
